One of our enthuastic members getting ready to MARCH!
What is Voices for Choices?
Voices for Choices is a fun way to teach young Americans about the importance of speaking up, speaking out and voting on the issue of reproductive freedom.
Over the last four years we have helped raise awareness at GW through events like "Cookies and Condoms in Kogan" during Welcome Week, a voter registration drive, safer sex parties in Thurston, a Roe v Wade 30th Birthday Bash and our very own Champions of Choice event, just to name a few. We also led a delegation of almost 1,000 students to the national March for Women's Lives with the help of many other GW student organizations, including the GW FMLA, PSU, and SGAC!
Through these events, Voices for Choices seeks to educate the GW community about the threats to reproductive choice and mobilizes students in support of reproductive rights. This age group is the least likely to vote, and has the most to lose when anti-choice politicians are elected to help political religious extremists achieve their goal of outlawing abortion and restricting access to birth control....
Cookies and Condoms has become and annual welcome week tradition for VFC. We give out tons of tasty cookies and condoms.

The history behind VFC?
It all started in the fall of 2001, when Emily had a crazy idea to get a bit more involved in student organizations on campus. GW didn't have a student organization that dealt with issues exclusively relating to choice! So, she decided to do a bit of research and discovered that Planned Parenthood had a program already in place to foster pro-choice student organizations on college campuses across the country.
A few months passed and before she knew it VFC was an officially GW recognized campus organization with the backing of DC's local Planned Parenthood affiliate Planned Parenthood of Metro Washington. Our first meeting was an amazing success with over 30 people. Since that first meeting, VFC has grown to over 400 members and doesn't show any signs of slowing down. Who knew there were so many pro-choice people at GW?
