The goal of the Vibes was to be the place where people could sing. Of course we wanted this group to be great, but again, the GOAL of the Vibes has been and should always be more toward building a community where people can find their second home, their smaller world within the huge world that is GW and Washington, DC.

We learned 2 songs in that first year. This was not so impressive. But we learned a lot of other stuff too. We learned about each other. We learned about starting something new and what it would take to make it better. We worked hard, we stressed, we worried.  But looking back, we are so proud of what that founding group of Vibes had done and continues to do with this most precious family of singers and friends.

Being two years out of college, it is so completely evident to us that the most important part of the Vibes was the connection we made to one another, to the community, and the music that we were able to create.  The arts community at GW has been forever changed.  The college experience of every member of our Vibes family will be forever changed. What is not important years later is how many songs we learned how good we were. It is the community that we created that has become the indelible standard to which we now hold ourselves.  And from there, we grow as individuals.

Our hope for this group is that it continues to grow and be a place where people can share their love for music and form strong relationships with one another. We want the Vibes to be a family at GW, accepting that there is a lot of good but hard work that can accompany such a community.
