Luncheon with Featured Speaker

On Tuesday, September 21st, esteemed speaker Jorge Bustí¯³, Coordinator of the Latino Outreach Initiative of Big Brothers Big Sisters (also known as Hermanos y Hermanas Mayores), came out to speak to us about BBBS. It was a great chance to learn and ask questions about the well known program.

On Tuesday, February 3rd, our regular Spanish Club Luncheon was cancelled. Instead, we attended a lecture by Alfredo Sணhez Monteseir쮬 Mayor of Seville. He gave an excellent speech about his wonderful city and extended an open invitation to students in the Washington, D.C. area to come and explore it.

On February 22nd, 2004, The Spanish Club held a production called "From Spain and Italy with Love: A Musical Journey" in the Jack Morton Auditorium (MPA). Details about the show are below.
Featuring: Tenor, Israel Lozano Soprano, Meghan McCall Pianist, Carlos C鳡r Rodriguez
This musical performance includes arias, duets, and piano solos from the repertoire of Italian Opera, Spanish Zarzuela and other melodies. Spanish tenor, Israel Lozano, won three unprecedented prizes at the Placido Domingo Operalia Competition held in Europe in the summer of 2003. Mr. Lozano is a member of the Young Artists Program of the Washington Opera. American soprano Meghan McCall has sung a large array of roles and is presently composing an opera for 6 voices, piano and cello. Venezuelan pianist, Carlos C鳡r Rodriguez made his professional debut at the age of 11. He has performed throughout the U.S., Latin America and Europe. He is a member of the Young Artists Program of the Washington Opera.
