Why should YOU join Sigma Nu?

That is an easy question, but there is no easy answer.  Most young men are looking for similar things in a fraternity, but everyone is unique in their wants and needs.  There are many things about our chapter that set us apart from most of the typical fraternities that you may have heard of.  Some are listed here, but in no particular order since only you can answer the question, "What do I want in a fraternity?"

  1. Brotherhood.  Of course this seems obvious, but it's not a familiar concept in many groups.  Our Sigma Nu chapter is the perfect size for you to know everyone and for everyone to know you, not for you to be just another face in the crowd at a party.  We are more than just a group of friends.

  1. Leadership Opportunity.  Sigma Nu is a smaller chapter than most others, meaning that we provide the opportunity for you to hold an official position if you choose to do so.  You are free to become as involved as you want and take in this valuable experience.  Could you be the next fraternity President, Social Chairman, or Treasurer?  We leave it all up to you.

  1. Connections.  Our Chapter has over 1,000 alumni, more than most other fraternities at GW.  Our National Fraternity is one of the Nation's largest and most far-reaching, with 350,000 alumni.  We have alumni in top posts of business, political, and social organizations nearly everywhere in North America.  Delta Pi maintains ties with alumni in a diverse array of fields here in Washington who our members have frequently been known to tap for an internship or job recommendation.  Graduate with more than just a degree.

  1. Freedom from Hazing.  Sigma Nu is the only national fraternity that was founded solely in opposition to hazing.  Our National remains committed to a zero-tolerance policy that goes far beyond that of any other Greek organization.

  1. The Chance to Make a Difference.  Sigma Nu participates in a large number of philanthropic events each year.  No, we won't use up all of your Playstation time, but our current brothers enjoy the chance to get out and make an impact in the community every now and then by doing a variety of things.  From swinging hammers for Habitat for Humanity to Hosting GrEEK Bowl for the American Diabetes Association, we know how to have fun while extending the helping hand.

  1. Academic Achievement.  The Delta Pi Chapter had the most improved Grade Point Average of any Sigma Nu Chapter in the country in 2003-2004.  Chances are that your parents may object to your joining a fraternity because they fear that your grades will suffer.  In our chapter, we don't ask our members to devote any more time to the fraternity than they can.

  1. Opportunity to Live Your Own Life.  Some chapters decide to fine members for not attending social or philanthropic events; Sigma Nu understands that our Brothers have lives.  Our brothers tend to be the type of people who want to get involved on campus or hold an internship in addition to their studies.  We're not saying that we're only a place to party on the weekends and we certainly don't want brothers to be inactive, but we only want your fraternity to be one part of your successful academic career.
