Josh was born in sunny Los Angeles as a medical rarity…as a unique gift I like to say. My mom was delighted to have identical twins, so thrilled in fact that she and my father dressed us identically for years. My brother Aaron and I appeared in our first movie at the age of one. The movie was a highly anticipated horror flick, directed by the man who brought us "The Exorcist". Our movie was considered a failure, but Aaron and I didn't take it so hard (maybe because we were not old enough to have conscious thoughts). We kept acting, appearing in several commercials, television shows, and TV movies, but our on-screen careers were short-lived. At this point, we began playing sports year-round. Basketball, soccer, and baseball occupied our time and our passions. When we were not playing the sports we loved, Aaron and I were watching them on television or looking at statistics in the newspapers. During my youth, I also came to be fascinated with music. Aaron and I became prolific guitar players, and have since recorded our own CDs. Another passion of mine is writing. Now I write in many different mediums, but my first experience with writing came as a song writer. "Season Days" was the first song I ever wrote, and if anyone wants to hear how it goes, I will gladly yet reluctantly (and full of embarrassment) share it with you. Currently, I am a sophomore (Class of 2011) majoring in Human Services (basically Non-Profit Organization) and minoring in Creative Writing and Peace Studies (maybe Political Science too …maybe) at the George Washington University. The organizations on campus with which I am most involved and are closest to my heart are Sigma Nu and the ONE Campaign, which is an organization committed to ending poverty and HIV/AIDS worldwide. In the spring, I plan to work at the Peace Corps Headquarters and am very excited about this job already! Right now I am working on my second feature length screenplay, and also writing for a sports website called Davis Sports Deli (check it out at DavisSportsDeli.com). For the site, I have interviewed many elite collegiate and professional athletes including Dodgers first baseman James Loney. I am also very proud of our most popular feature, which ranks the top 25 NBA players under the age of 25. I am thrilled to report that our website has been receiving critical acclaim on the national sports journalism stage, having been praised by MLB writer Lisa Winston! Our website is still relatively small, as we only boast a handful of writers, but I am very happy with what we are accomplishing. We think of our website as one of the best kept secrets in sports journalism! And I think of the brotherhood of Sigma Nu in the same way. With around 20 members being as strong and successful as we are, Sigma Nu may possibly be the best kept secret on campus. That said, we are always looking for kind, fun, interesting, driven men to let in on the secret. I joined Sigma Nu in the spring of 2008, and I am already the chapter's Philanthropy Chair. At Sigma Nu, there are many opportunities for leadership from the beginning. Believe it or not, I had no intention of joining a fraternity until I met these guys…now I am sure I glad I did. It's funny how things work out. If you have any questions for me or just want to say hello, my e-mail is Joshua.fischman@gmail.com and I have facebook like virtually every college student on the planet. Take care! |
