Eric Goodstein's Bio

Eric Goodstein is in his junior year at GW. He is studying History and Judaic Studies major in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences.  Eric is currently serving as the Lieutenant Commander (Vice President) of Sigma Nu: Delta Pi Chapter.

Eric is from Long Island, New York.  He is a passionate Hockey Fan(C-A-P-S… Caps Caps Caps!!! And of course the home team Islanders! [RANGERS SUCK]).  Eric's favorite movie of all time is Sleepers. His favorite bands include Yellowcard, Sugercult, Sum 41, Iron Maiden, Van Halen and Queen.  Eric plans to return home after graduation in order to pursue a career in the rabbinate.  At GW Eric has worked every semester since Spring of Freshman year. He worked for Congressman Loebsack (IA-2) in Spring 07.  Eric received a job offer to work at Kaplan Test Prep the summer after working for Loebsack due to a brother’s recommending on his behalf for the job. This year Eric plans to volunteer to work at the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington (Charles E. Smith Life Community Homes).

For Eric, Sigma Nu has been one of the most influential experiences in his life. Coming into GW with an attitude of “No way no how no fraternity,” it was a shock for Eric to learn that fraternities were not like the Hollywood streotype. Sure there are parties sometimes but there was a much deeper connection between the brothers.  Eric has made some of the best friends of his life in Sigma Nu. We now not only have a friendship, but a bond as brothers that transcends a normal friendship.  Eric pledged his freshman year and never looked back.

Aside for the unbreakable bonds of brotherhood Eric has gained leadership experience that will benefit him in the real world. Eric has used Sigma Nu as a testing ground of sort to gain experience, make mistakes and learn from them. Here Eric has learned that you can be a leader and mess up and everything will come out right in the end.

Eric has also peviously served as Marshal (Candidate Educator) and Recruitment Chair in his time as a member of Sigma Nu.  These two positions served to give Eric experience that he can use in real life. As Recruitment Chair, Eric learned how to successfully market a product (the fraternity).  He also learned how to organize events on a large scale.  As Candidate Educator Eric was given an insight into what it would be like to teach.  These skills ultimately have made Eric a better more well rounded individual and more prepared for life after college.   Eric would not trade the experiences he gained by being a part of Sigma Nu for anything in the world.
