Leadership

You might not associate fraternities with leadership and achievement, but Sigma Nu is proud to offer its members a four-year ethical leadership development program. Sigma Nu’s acclaimed LEAD Program (an acronym for Leadership, Ethics, Achievement, and Development) helps our members discover a new level of achievement and grow socially, intellectually and morally.

Sigma Nu doesn't want its members to develop as leaders just to benefit Sigma Nu. Rather, we want our members to learn how to lead and then join other organizations to help those organizations become even stronger. Leadership is useless when it is kept in a bottle.

Sigma Nu also strives to develop leadership skills applicable to the world outside of college. Sigma Nu is able to do this by providing the training and hands-on experience necessary to understand leadership. When members of Sigma Nu graduate they are armed with confidence and skills to be successful in any organization. You learn skills that cannot be taught in the classroom.

Brotherhood

Sigma Nu, above all, is a brotherhood. The friendships and memories we form here last a lifetime. Fraternity, for us, is all about supporting one another, and working together to build a powerful collegiate experience. Furthermore, Sigma Nu is not just four years, it’s for life.

Networking

Sigma Nu is an international fraternity spanning the United States and Canada with over 180 active chapters and over 160,000 living alumni. We were founded nearly 140 years ago, living our three core ideals of Love, Honor and Truth. Brothers from Sigma Nu have helped shape and change many aspects of our country today and are found in prominent leadership positions in the fields of business, entertainment, military, athletics, and government just to name a few.

Current brothers hold positions in Congress, Law Firms, the Department of Homeland Security, as well as other organizations around the DC Metro Area.

Sigma Nu is the ONLY Honor Fraternity

Our founders at Virginia Military Institute lived by a code of Honor. The Honor system at VMI requires each cadet to conform to the duty imposed by his conscience that each act be governed by a high sense of Honor. We were the first Fraternity to be founded upon this honor principle. When lived out in the bonds of fraternal brotherhood, the Honor principle brings a level of integrity and excellence that is uncommon in the world today.

Sigma Nu opposes the practice of Hazing

People often associate hazing with fraternities. Sigma Nu is unique in the fact that we were founded based on honor, which stems from our founders rebelling against the common practice of hazing at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia. That principle still holds true today.

The Lead Program

Our program is called LEAD, an acronym for Leadership, Ethics, Achievement and Development. The Sigma Nu LEAD program is the finest fraternity education program in the Greek world. However, it is not meant to simply orient you to membership as a Sigma Nu. Its purpose is to develop all men to be ethical leaders on campus and beyond. Sigma Nu will compliment and enhance your other leadership experiences in combination with other leadership development programs, student government, athletics and other organizations.

Academics

When it comes to Academics, Sigma Nu takes things very seriously.  We take pride in our scholarly achievements and it is important to the young men that we recruit.  Since the founding of our great organization the ideas of bettering oneself through academia was and still is a great influence. The Delta Pi Chapter of Sigma Nu is no exception to these core values expressed by our founders. We believe that excellence in the academic world can be transferred into excellence in other areas of ones life.  This is shown by the brothers every year and every semester when we push each other to be better students and better men.  Through this core value of education, the brothers of Sigma Nu have proved themselves not only to the GW community but to our National Headquarters of our commitment to academics. We as a chapter have been recognized by both the GW Greek Community and our National Headquarters for having one of the best GPA’s of all Greek Organizations and chapters.  We have received many awards and are proud to display them with honor.  For instants, last year Sigma Nu Delta Pi beat all other Greek averages at GW (both male and female) when it comes to cumulative GPA.  This is quite an achievement when you put it in perspective with the fact that we go to GW and the stereotype of the Greek Community and Organizations.  We also received an award for excellent Academic Performance from our National Headquarters. Academics really mean a lot to us and we hope it means just as much to you.  If this is true than you have come to the right place with Sigma Nu and we can’t wait to get to know you and show you what it means to excel with honor.
