Zeta Chapter of Sigma Kappa was instituted February 24, 1906 at the George Washington University, Washington, D.C. Beginning with that date Zeta chapter has held regular meetings...
...On March 29, 1906 the Pan-Hellenic Association at the George Washington University formally welcome Zeta chapter into the University by a reception at the college building. Shortly after this Zeta chapter gave a reception and dance to all the fraternities and sororities at the University.
In the early spring, Zeta held her first initiation when the following became sisters in Sigma Kappa: Marian Craig, (Mrs.) Stella Barbour Solyom, and Ethel Gallagher.
From The History of Sigma Kappa Sorority 1874-1924
...Zeta has had difficult conditions to meet. Situated in a university where a large proportion of the students attend evening classes, where there are no dormitories, and where the fraternity interests themselves frequently have been the sole point of contact, the chapter has steadfastly held her ground, won the esteem and consideration of the administrastion, had her generous share of scholastic and activity honors and place upon her roll of members the names of women of character, brilliance, and achievement. The alumnae, many of whom reside in the city, have been a tower of strength, sharing joys, bearing burdens, and working always toward the future.
The current members of the Zeta Chapter of Sigma Kappa strive to meet and exceed the standards and expectations that previous members have set forth for them.
Some of Zeta's signature events include: The Senior Citizens Prom with Kappa Sigma, Bingo nights at Saint Mary's Court, Semi-Formal cruise on the Potomac, Formal events on the Kennedy Center rooftop terrace
