About SHRM

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the leading voice of the human resource profession. SHRM provides education and information services, and publications to more than 175000 professional and student members throughout the world. The Society, the world's largest human resource management association, is a founding member of the North American Human Resource management Association, is a founding member of the North American Human Resource Management Association (NAHRMA) and a founding member of the World Federation of Personal Mangement Assocaitions (WFPMA). The society was founded in 1948 as the American Society for Personnel Adminsitration (ASPA) by a group of personnel managers who foresaw the future complexities of the emerging profession. In September 1989, the name was officially changed to the Society for Human Resources.
