International Student Group Travel Policy
GW continues to be concerned with the health, safety and security of all students when they are traveling on behalf of the University, especially to an international location. As such, there is a trip proposal and review process that all student organizations must complete prior to the purchase of any tickets for an international trip.  Any student organization considering international travel must meet with their SAT advisor as soon as the decision is made to travel to be sure their advisor can inform them of the necessary information to have the trip approved.

The Office of International Programs has established a policy for all student organization international travel that can be found here:

The University provides an International Travel Insurance and Assistance Program to GW students engaged in University-related activities abroad.  The program includes: travel advice services; security evacuations; re-patriation services; access to International SOS clinics and on-line information, such as country guides, travel security reports, vaccinations and diseases, business and cultural etiquette.

If you have any questions about complying with the International Travel Approval Policy or registering your travel with the U.S. Department of State, please e-mail the Office of International Programs at sipadmin@gwu.edu.

If you have any questions about registering for or the coverage provided by International SOS Emergency Insurance, please e-mail the Office of Risk Management at risk@gwu.edu.

In order to access coverage while traveling, you MUST activate your Personal Travel Record for each leg of your trip.  To activate your Record, login to the Assistance Abroad Portal located at http://www.gwu.edu/~riskmgnt/program/insurance/intl_travel_insurance.cfm.  Use the login instructions located in the Handbook to assist in recording your trip details.  This program does not include health insurance so it is strongly encouraged that University travelers maintain their own personal health insurance and determine how their health insurance program applies to medical care abroad prior to traveling.
