Quote of the Day:

Semester Requirements

Every semester, each active brother must complete certain requirements or risk being on probation the following semester.  If a brother does not fulfill all requirements in his/her last semester, that brother will graduate in bad standing.

The requirements for Beta Mu chapter are defined as:

1. attendance at 80% of all brother meetings and committee meetings

2. attendance at ALL rituals (Pinning, Big Reveal, Induction)

3. completion of committee requirements

          a. SERVICE

    • Service Committee:  2 events, one of which they must run
    • Brotherhood:  2 events

          b. PROGRAMMING

    • Committee members: attend 2 events
    • Brotherhood: attend 1 event

          c. RUSH

    • Rush Committee: 1 Meet & Greet, 3 Events, and 1 Item (same as to vote).
    • Eligible to vote: 1 Meet & Greet, 3 Events, and 1 Item.
    • Brotherhood: 1 Meet & Greet, 1 Event, and 1 Item.
    • ALL COMMITTEE CHAIRS must vote
    • E-Board must vote
    • Programming and Service events will count for rush and NOT for programming and service requirements.

          d. FUNDRAISING

    • Committee members: must attend at least 2 events and have the option of bringing supplies to the third
    • Brotherhood: must attend or provide supplies for 3 events

          e. INITIATE

    • Brotherhood:  attend one initiate sponsored event OR two initiate meetings
    • Bigs: attend one initiate sponsored event AND two initiate meetings
    • E-Board: attend one initiate sponsored event AND two initiate meetings

          f. PR

    • Committee members: 2 events (one must be a “Hot Chocolate” event), create one new flyer
    • Brotherhood: 1 event
    • All are strongly encouraged to wear letters throughout the semester and use “Profile Pants” during Rush

If you are on probation for not fulfilling committee requirements, you can get off probation by making up your missed event the following semester.

If you are on probation for missing a meeting, you can make it up by going to an extra brother event or an extra initiate event.

If you are on probation for missing a ritual, you can do one of the following:

  1. Go to an interchapter ritual
  2. Become RAM-trained
              a. If already RAM-trained, attend a PSP event as the RAM-trained person
              b. Attend a PSP event as a sober monitor
  3. Organize a fundraising event
  4. Go to 2 initiate events

Because of the importance of rituals, if you miss one you are automatically on probation until you make it up, but all other types of probation either begin at the end of the semester or as soon as you are no longer able to fulfill the requirement.  As soon as you make up your requirement, you will be taken off probation and may vote.  Please note that you may not go inactive if you are on probation.

If you do not pay your dues or if you are on probation for 2 semesters in a row, there will automatically be a motion for your expulsion by the penultimate meeting of the 2nd semester of probation.

If you are on probation, you are required not only to fulfill all requirements in the next semester, but also to make up any missed requirements from the previous semester in order to get off probation.  If you fail to do so, your probation will be extended for another semester and you will be eligible for expulsion.
