What is the Board Fellows program?

The Board Fellows program brings valuable business skills to local nonprofits, while exposing graduate students to nonprofit management and governance.  It's a great way for graduate students to both boost their resumes, and gain hands-on experience in the operations and management of non-profit organizations. Between Jan and May 2008, the student Board Fellows serve as non-voting board members and complete a strategic project designed to further advance the mission of the nonprofit.

Time requirement: 6-8 hours/month.

What are the requirements for students/Board Fellows?
- 6 – 8 hours per month commitment
- Work with the Executive Director and Board members of a local nonprofit on a previously determined strategic project
- Complete the project within four-six months from agreement
- Attend all board meetings (usually held quarterly)
- Present project to Board of Directors and provide copies and relevant research/analysis to the nonprofit
