Heather Larkin

The silver, cold, reflecting portals
they blind me with the artificial light of day.
I walk amongst the gray and cracked paths of life
breaking within me hope and desire.
Human contact is unattainable.
Blank faces, walking in packs, feeding off fear,
fast paced zombies,
pass me in a blur.
Steps that lead to a red brick end.
Dreams become long and wanting
displaying places far from these halls.
Choking on the dust that accumulates,
drowning in a sea of transgression.
