Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a member of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc., Theta Chapter?

The first step in seeking membership in the sorority is in attending an information session.  There you will meet members and learn more about the organization.

Do I have to be Latina and/or speak Spanish to become a member of the Sorority?

Definitely not.  While a large percentage of our members are Latina we also have members from diverse backgrounds.  As long as you have an appreciation for the Latino culture you'll be sure to fit in!

What if there is not a chapter of LPC on my campus?

If you are interested in becoming a member and there is no Lambda Pi Chi chapter in your vicinity, please email our Director of New Membership at

Are there dues?

Yes.  Dues are collected annually and include insurance within the organization.

Do you haze?

No!  Hazing is a federal offense.  In no way does Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc., condone or practice anything that would be considered hazing.

Does Lambda Pi Chi have a brother fraternity?
No, we do not. One of the primary reasons for the founding of our sorority was to have a space for women that was created by women and focused on women. To have a brother fraternity would in part deter from this goal. We do however recognize the importance of working with all organizations in order to accomplish our goals and have developed relationships with many Greek lettered organizations, both fraternities and sororities
