When the six founders of Phi Sigma Kappa came together at what is now The University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1873, they envisioned a fraternity that would instill the cardinal principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship and Character through the bonds it formed. Since then, generations of Phi Sigs have become a part of this tradition, embracing both the social and service aspects of life as a Phi Sigma Kappa brother. Through the years, young men from all walks of life have found companionship, opportunity and solace within the strength and beauty of true fraternity. Phi Sigma Kappa brothers commit themselves to the pursuit of knowledge, devotion to one another and morality. The fraternity designated the Golden Rule as its motto to further emphasize how much it values conduct that is just and honorable.

Here at GW, the proud Phi Sigma Kappa tradition dates back to 1899, making it one of the oldest fraternity chapters on campus. In addition to the ideals of the national fraternity, Phi Sig at GW prides itself on its independence and tight-knit community of brothers and alumni. Our size ensures that everyone knows personally the men he calls his brothers. Additionally, the Phi Sigma Kappa house, located at the corner of 21st and F St., is owned by our alumni organization, not the university. Because of this, the Phi Sigma Kappa house has remained an oasis of real fraternity life at the center of our bustling city and campus.
