On the cold night of January 10, 1899, students of Illinois Wesleyan University, in the small Midwestern town of Bloomington, had just returned from the Christmas holidays when Joseph L. Settles went to the room occupied by James C. McNutt and Clarence A. Mayer at 504 East Locust Street to discuss the organization of a new society on campus. Joined immediately by Owen I. Truitt and C. Roy Atkinson, these five students created the first set of regulations for the Knights of Classic Lore, a society whose avowed purpose was "to aid college men in mental, moral, and social development."

In 1935 The Alpha-Pi Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon was founded at The George Washington University. The chapter is the longest continuous standing fraternity on GW's campus.  We hold our members to high standards of brotherhood, academics, and philanthropy.

Our house is located on the corner of 22nd and G, across the street form the Smith Center.  The house provides amazing opportunities for living and learning.  Brothers live together and work together for common goals.

In the Fall of every year the brothers organize and host TKE Turkey Bowl, a fundraiser for the Ronald Reagan Alzheimer's Foundation.  We wake early on a Sunday morning and Sororities and Fraternities play football all day, competing for the championship.  The brothers of our tight knit chapter each completed at least 25 hours of community services last semester combining to complete over 1,500 hours of service.
