Responsible & Sustainable Tourism Practices


What is sustainable tourism? What does it mean to be a responsible tourist? What are ethical issues involved in tourism?


The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO/OMT) is a part of the United Nations and is the ultimate resource and leader in the formation of tourism policy, definitions, and concepts.

In 2004, the World Tourism Organization revised the operational definition of Sustainable Development of Tourism.

The UNWTO's General Assembly has adopted a Global Code of Ethics.

In 2005, the World Committee on Tourism Ethics approved the following UNWTO The Responsible Tourist and Traveller Brochure.
