REP. CYNTHIA MCKINNEY, RAY MCGOVERN and DEBRA SWEET on...
"It’s Worse Than You Think:
Where
the Bush Regime is Taking the World and Why They Still Must Be
Stopped"
A Forum and Discussion
Monday, December 4, 7:30
p.m.
George Washington University
Funger Hall, Room 108, 2201 G Street NW,
George Washington University
Metro: Foggy Bottom stop on the Orange and Blue
lines
Sponsored by The World Can’t Wait – Drive Out the Bush Regime,
the Bush Crimes Commission, and the George Washington University Progressive
Student Union
The presentations will confront how the entire program of
the Bush Agenda continues to impact the planet in disastrous ways, and how a
movement of conscious, empowered citizens can defeat this course of war,
torture, lies, theocracy, the crimes of Katrina, and more. The premise: people
can only act on what they know; and much is hidden from the populace right now.
The forum will address the reality of the Bush program that people still
confront.
The electoral defeat of the Republican majority in Congress
revealed the widespread revulsion against the Bush administration and the Iraq
War, but the foundational elements of the Bush program remain either openly
promoted or untouched by the new Democratic Congressional leadership. This
includes how the Bush government has carried out its whole program under the
rubric of the War on Terror, the qualitative changes concerning civil liberties
(legalizing torture, establishing the Orwellian enemy combatant category, and
unprecedented attacks on habeas corpus), the abandonment of New Orleans, and the
theocratic assault on abortion, homosexuality, science, and critical thought.
Rep. Cynthia McKinney, speaking on October 5 at one of 230 protests
against the Bush regime, said, “This is one of America's most ignominious
moments. Only the acts of millions of Americans, committed to peace and justice,
can avert the mighty collision rushing toward us.”
The December 4
forum will feature:
Rep. Cynthia McKinney, the first
African-American Congresswoman from Georgia, unstinting critic of Bush
administration policies, will speak to the administration’s utter failure to
respond to the fully predictable consequences of Hurricane Katrina.
Ray McGovern, a retired 27-year veteran of the CIA, Ray is a
co-founder of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity. He will address the
lies behind the war on Iraq, the dangers of war on Iran, and the true history of
Secretary of Defense designate Robert Gates.
Debra Sweet,
National Coordinator of World Can't Wait - Drive Out the Bush Regime, organizer
of the nationwide anti-Bush actions of October 5, will speak on the continuing
necessity to drive out the Bush regime and repudiate its program.
