State Plaza Hotel

Latest Campaign Information:

Despite our victories with the University, and having our message clearly sent to the management of the State Plaza.  Union organizers have decided to persue other campaigns and have moved their attention temporarily away from the hotel.  PSU will make sure the Hotel is not re-added to the list of Places to Stay until current practices change.  (updated 9/13/07)

More than sixty students sent faxes to the management of the State Plaza today saying their friends and family will not be staying at the Hotel during graduation weekend because of the abusive labor practices.

Nine GW Students marched into the State Plaza Hotel and handed over a printed copy of the updated "Places to Stay" webpage and a copy of the student association resolution to the General Manager's office.

GW's Office of Undergraduate Admissions, which maintains the list of "places to stay" for GW, agreed to remove the Hotel from that list.  Visit the site to see proof of the work we were able to accomplish.  Now we just need to make sure the hotel hears the message.

The Student Association passed a resolution in December 2006 demanding the University remove the State Plaza Hotel from the list of "Places to Stay" until the management resolves the labor dispute with the union, UNITE HERE Local 25.  We are now in meetings with the administration demanding they enforce the SA's resolution.
