Welcome to the G.W. Review

The G.W. Review's Submission Policy

The G.W. Review accepts art, fiction and poetry from artists around the world. We are looking for strong, interesting and individualistic work.

Please note: The Review does not publish work by G.W. students. Publication forums for GW student work are listed on our Links page.

The G.W. Review publishes work by national and international authors. However, we do hold a Senior Contest every spring to feature the work of up-and-coming Seniors at GW. Please see our Senior Contest page for more information.

To all non-GW artists, we are sorry, but the Review cannot accept email submissions unless they come from outside of the continental United States, in which case, please specify in the subject line of your email. Submissions that do not follow this requirement will be returned to the author without consideration.

Any interviews or special features published are solicited work and we do not accept proposals. That said, we are usually willing to consider creative non-fiction pieces and have, in the past, published translations with the consent of the author. Please email us with questions.

Below are our General Submission Guidelines:

Please see the Art Submissions page for information on submitting art.

Send a printed copy of your submission, a cover letter including a short bio and a stamped and self-addressed envelope (SASE) to:

the GW Review Box 20B, The Marvin Center 800 21st Street, N.W. Washington, DC 20052

Make sure to include all of your contact information (name, address, telephone number and email) with your submission. Ideally, please also put the information on the submission itself.

Please double-space your submission and make sure it is in an easily legible font. Number your pages.

Size limits are: Poetry, no more than 10 pages. Fiction, preferably no more than 6,000 words. Please respect these limits; if for any reason you feel that your submission needs to be longer, please email us before sending it in.

Do not send your submission on a disk or CDROM. Should your work be chosen for publication we will contact you promptly with information as to how to proceed.

Sadly, we cannot offer financial awards for publication, however, all those published will recieve two copies of the Review in which their work appeared.

Our response time varies widely three to six months depending on when you submit. While we understand that not receiving feedback is annoying, please understand that it is difficult for us to reply to constant queries as to the status of a submission and that we will get back to you as soon as possible.
