About the team...

How GWQT came to be:

In Fall 2005,  Kevan Duve, a CCAS Sophomore, and Tricia Southard, a Gelman Library staff member took it upon themselves to revive the dormant GW Academic Team -- unbeknownst to each other.  Kevan worked from the administrative side – making sure the framework for reconstitution was in place, lining up student officers and making sure the finances were in order. Tricia, on the other hand, plastered campus with fliers, recruited possible team members, garnered alumni support, tapped her friends in the Quiz Bowl community, and started running practices.

Thanks to Craig Barker, maintainer of the Maize Pages (and a friend of Tricia’s), Kevan and Tricia found each other and they combined forces. With their efforts combined, the GW team quickly regained re-recognition as a Student Organization @ GW -- complete with new name.

We're glad to be back... at GW and in the larger Quizbowl community....

Wait...what happened to the GWACC?

The GWACC was disbanded  in 2003 due to lack of student interest and leadership (More detail in the lexicon under "Great Exodus".)

This team was previously known as (in chronological order): The Trivia Club, George Washington University College Bowl and the George Washington Academic Competition Club (GWACC.)
