The GW fencing club is a competitive club. We are a member club of the Baltimore Washington Collegiate Fencing Conference (BWCFC) which also includes University of Maryland College Park, University of Maryland Baltimore County, St. John's College, Goucher College, US Naval Academy, St.Mary's College, and Temple University. Competitions are co-ed and are fenced in NCAA team format.
Individual club members are also active in USFA competition most commonly in the Capitol, Maryland, and Virginia Divisions.
Participation in competitions is not required for club membership. We do, however, encourage all members to compete. Beginners are prepared for competition and in the past we have had new fencers ready to compete within 6 months.
