Insane couples. A few angels. Nights of musical madness. No, it's not an acid trip, it's FPP's Spring 2008 season! Featuring an epic and emotional modern masterpiece, a cynical, satirical and highly-acclaimed musical, and the return of our annual Musical Cabaret, Spring 2008 was undoubtedly an FPP season unlike any other.
The season began on February 15-16, as FPP brought the first part of Tony Kushner's Angels in America, Millennium Approaches to GW. Directed by Paul Rozenberg, Angels in America follows the connections between several people surviving in the Reagan-era United States, struggling with identity, AIDS, and the ever-changing world. Part two, Perestroika, was performed on February 29 to March 1. Proceeds from both shows raised over $3,000 for Whitman-Walker Clinic, benefiting victims of AIDS in Washington D.C. The two shows also marked the first time an FPP show was produced in the Jack Morton Auditorium. The season continued on Februrary 22-23 with FPP's second annual Musical Cabaret, featuring nine individual musical scenes. The season ended with Company, Stephen Sondheim's renowned musical following Bobby, a single man faced with his 35th birthday and a bevy of married friends pushing him to settle down. Company, directed by junior Sarah Kupferman, was performed from April 24-27.
