FPP in the Community
|
Forbidden Planet Productions believes that being active in the GW and Foggy Bottom communities is just as important as our productions. We feel that being a student organization gives us a unique opportunity to use our resources and talents to benifit campus and community causes. FPP regularly participates in several community events:
-
For the past two years, FPP has organized a team to participate in AIDS Walk Washington, an annual walk-a-thon benefiting Whitman-Walker Clinic. This year's AIDS Walk raised more money than ever before, and FPP was proud to be a part of the effort to fight AIDS in Washington D.C.
-
FPP participated for the sixth time last fall in the Foggy Bottom Block Party, which is held annually by the University's Office of Foggy Bottom Affairs and the FRIENDS community group. The event welcomes students and area residents to promote town-gown relations and local businessess and originizations. FPP showcased our talented casts of Godspell and bare: a pop opera, singing songs such as "Turn Back, Oh Man" and "The Role of a Lifetime."
-
In Spring 2008, FPP performed Tony Kushner's Angels in America in four nights, with parts one and two each being performed twice. In doing so, we raised AIDS awareness not only with the show's message, but also by donating proceeds from each performance to the Whitman-Walker Clinic.
