| Fred Ngoga Gateretse is
an Africa Analyst with iJET, Inc. At the age of 15 he joined the
Rwandese Patriotic Front (RPF) fighting to stop the genocide in
neighboring Rwanda. At age 20, he was elected Chairman of the Burundi
Youth Council of which he was a co-founding member. In 2000 he
participated in fund-raising and advocacy campaigns for peace in the
Great Lakes Region of Africa and in September of 2001, he organized a
peace summit in Washington DC that brought together 40 young Burundian
adults. He has also successfully lobbied the US Congress for
resolutions on Burundi and recently the UN Security Council for the
creation of an international commission of inquiry and a war tribunal
for Burundi. In 2001 he assisted in the research for a book: Raise the Floor - Wages and Policies That Work for All of Us,
by Holly Sklar, Laryssa Mykyta. In the summer of 2004 he served as a
Political Affairs intern with the Permanent Observer Mission of the
African Union at the United Nations. Frederic has also served on the
board of US-based organizations such as Boston Mobilization and Global
Justice. He often discusses the conflicts in Burundi, Rwanda and the
DRC on radio talk shows including Radio France International, Voice of
America and the British Broadcasting Company.
Rahwa Tesfay is a Watch Operations Manager with a special focus on Africa at iJET Intelligent Risk Systems. Prior to iJET, Rahwa
served as the Economic Officer at the Embassy of Eritrea in Washington,
DC, where she managed Eritrea's development partnerships, particularly
in the areas of post-conflict reconstruction, demobilization, health
and poverty reduction. Rahwa
has represented Eritrea in international forums, including the IGAD
Conference on the Initiative for Peace in Sudan and the Role of Women
in Maastricht, the Netherlands, in 2000 and has worked as a policy
intern at the Ministries of National Development and Foreign Affairs in
Asmara, Eritrea. She was a co-founder of the Africa Caucus at the
Kennedy School of Government and currently serves as the Chair of the
National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students in North America,
which designs empowerment and leadership programs for hundreds of
Eritrean youth. She is also a coordinator for the Eritrean Language
School in Washington, DC. Rahwa
received her Master in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of
Government at Harvard University in 2003, and her Bachelor of Art in
International Relations from Tufts University in 1999.
She has studied at the School of Oriental and African
Studies in the United Kingdom and at Tufts University in Taillores,
France, and is fluent in English, Tigrinya and French.
